Adobe Animate is Very similar to after effects in its use of creating motion but with more to offer. Animate not only functions as its own animation tool but as a file creator for said animations. Adobe animates allows you to create specific movements in different set pieces, helping you keep the process compact. For example if you create a character you you can create a sub folder making all of the parts of that character a symbol so you keep the original and can move the one on the set. I'm glad you can make these sub movements for a combined movement across the set.
I find adobe animate to be in many ways the next step and what after effects was missing in its design. Adobe animate could use with less of a complicated adjustment feature, its often confusing how your supposed to use it. Thankfully it wasn't confusing enough to keep me from creating a decent animation. The settings for adjusting sizes need to be tweaked heavily even applying something from illustrator is risky as it sometimes compresses the image.

After effects is a program mainly used for movement of singles and creating motion graphics. I have used it for both such objects; whereas still art has to rely on placement, motion graphics naturally attract the attention of the viewer. After effects has a slightly over complicated method of creating motion, but its easy enough once you get used to it. You create motion by using a stop watch button to mark between key frames for moving certain assets. When it comes to straight forward animation, and certain other creations make use of the frame setting tool in which you set each picture to a certain frame to create motion. After effects also makes use of the tool known as adobe media encoder to save it as animation.
I think After effects is well worth using to create simple animations if you have the patience and the software available. My only nitpicking of the program are its slightly confusing set ups. As well as the use of the stop watch tool having some functions that perhaps don't need independent movement. Lastly I believe it would be more beneficial to create a program that both makes the animation and compresses it turning it into an animation. |
